Being the Church

Being the Church

It is one thing to say we are the church, but it is something entirely different when we act like it. This last week we were made aware of an Acts 2 type need within our church family. Stephen Mensch and his family are facing a medical crisis with Stephen undergoing a Liver transplant October 9th. We issued a challenge to help Stephen by removing a possible barrier for his living donor, Yuki. Yuki has chosen to sacrificially serve Stephen through the donation of a portion of his healthy liver. It is humbling to watch this unfold within our family. However, while Yuki is willing, it doesn’t come at no cost. During Yuki’s recovery he will be limited in work and without short or long term disability. We met with Yuki and shared that we would like to help alleviate some of that stress so he could focus on his health and recovery through this process. Ultimately, this generous expression from our church to Yuki is about Stephen as well. The goal our church set was $4,000. We met that goal in one day. Each of you… over 5o people in all have shown those around us what the church should be. You have shared the burden of one of our own by helping a stranger. I am in awe…. our God looks good through you all!
