Different Priorities

If you were there with us Sunday, you know we started a new series called “The Kingdom: Life Upside Down”  (If you missed it, you can watch it here).  We went through Matthew 5:13-16

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Light of the World

We are called not just to act different, but to BE different.  You and I have been saved for a purpose, to be salt and light to a decaying and dark world.  How are you doing this week?  Do people look at you and your life and what you do… and praise God?  It’s much easier to just blend in, I know – but isn’t there something wrong with “wanting to blend in” with a culture that’s rotting?  Our calling is to “be salt” to preserve the culture, to literally hold back the rot and decay.

Our world needs you and me to be different.

Preteen camp started yesterday, and a whole bunch of our kids went to camp to learn how to be salt and light in their world.  In their world of insecurities and peer pressure to conform, to not stand out, they’re learning how to have the courage to truly be different.  Remember to pray for them, and while you’re at it, pray for the rest of us.  We all need that same supernatural help to be salt and light.  They’ll come back fired up and ready to take on their world.  Will we be ready to show them the way?
